The Generation 1 Transformers toys are a huge favorite among collectors.  Anyone can get their hands on a new Transformers toy but it takes some digging, skill and diligence to find rare G1 Transformers toys.

Another option for fans of the G1 series of Transformers are the Transformers Masterpiece line of toys that were released earlier this decade.  Many fans love these toys as they are very well built, like the original G1 toys, and they have the same look and feel of the original line of toys as well.  There are not very many options when it comes to the Masterpiece line of Transformers toys but the few that are available are very classy toys and fun to transform!

As of this writing, there are seven Transformers that have been created for the Masterpiece line.  These seven are considered the most popular of the original G1 line of toys that were released in the 80′s.  It is important to note that there are still Masterpiece Transformers being released every few years or so, thus this list may be out of date soon.  The seven that have been released so far are:  Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ultra Magnus, Starscream, Grimlock, Thundercracker, and Skywarp.

Of course there is an Optimus Prime Masterpiece toy that has been released.  Optimus looks just like his classic self, only he is a little bit bigger.  Optimus also has a little more detail to him but he does not have his trailer to him in the first version.  Instead there is only a cardboard cutout that is used mostly for display purposes.  There was a bit of fan backlash on that point so a second Masterpiece Optimus was released to the delight of hard core enthusiasts.  This one includes the die cast trailer for Optimus to lug around.  Most do not use the trailer when playing with Optimus but it is certainly good for display.
